Ranks & Roster

The Recruit rank is the entry point into the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this stage are undergoing initial familiarization with unit standards, communication procedures, and operational expectations.

Recruits are expected to demonstrate basic aircraft handling, situational awareness, and the ability to operate within a team environment.

Progression to Junior Flight Officer requires successful completion of a flight assessment, evaluating fundamental airmanship, communication, and tactical understanding.

Junior Flying Officer

The Junior Flying Officer rank represents pilots who have completed initial screening and are progressing through formal training within the Chernarus Defense Force.

Personnel at this stage are expected to build proficiency in aircraft operation, communication, and basic tactical execution while integrating into multi-ship and multi-role environments.

Progression to Flight Officer requires successful completion of either the L-39C training course (fixed-wing track) or a Mi-8/Mi-24P Co-Pilot/Gunner assessment (rotary track), demonstrating readiness for frontline operational roles.

Flight Officer

The Flight Officer rank represents fully qualified operational pilots within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level are considered mission-capable and are expected to execute assigned tasks effectively within coordinated, multi-ship and multi-role operations.

Flight Officers demonstrate solid airmanship, communication discipline, and tactical awareness, contributing reliably to mission success in dynamic, high-threat environments.

Progression to Warrant Officer is available to those who choose to specialize as technical experts and instructors, rather than pursue command or staff responsibilities. This track is intended for individuals supporting training within operational brigades or contributing to instruction through the GNAFU (Gudauta National Air Force University).

Warrant Officer

The Warrant Officer rank represents senior technical specialists within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level are recognized for their deep expertise in aircraft operation, tactics, and instruction, serving as key contributors to training and standards across the unit.

Warrant Officers primarily support the force as instructors, evaluators, and subject matter experts, often assigned to operational brigades or the GNAFU (Gudauta National Air Force University). They are responsible for developing pilot proficiency, refining tactics, and ensuring consistency in execution across all elements.

This track is designed for those who choose to focus on technical mastery and instruction, without the burden of command or administrative staff roles.

Progression to Chief Warrant Officer is reserved for individuals who demonstrate sustained excellence in instruction, leadership within the training pipeline, and a significant contribution to doctrine development and standardization across the CDF.

Chief Warrant Officer

The Chief Warrant Officer rank represents the highest level of technical expertise within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level are the unit’s most experienced instructors, evaluators, and doctrine leaders, responsible for maintaining and advancing operational standards across all platforms.

Chief Warrant Officers serve as senior authorities within GNAFU (Gudauta National Air Force University) and operational brigades, overseeing training pipelines, standardization, and tactical development. They play a critical role in mentoring instructors, validating procedures, and ensuring the effectiveness of CDF combat operations.

This rank is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional proficiency, leadership in instruction, and long-term contributions to the development of pilots and tactics within the CDF.

Junior Lieutenant

The Junior Lieutenant rank marks entry into the officer track within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level have demonstrated commitment to the unit and active participation with the brigades they are assigned to.

Junior Lieutenants are expected to maintain consistency, reliability, and a solid understanding of unit standards while continuing to develop their proficiency.

Flying Officers who demonstrate strong commitment and performance may be directly selected for promotion to Junior Lieutenant, entering the officer track based on merit.

Progression to Lieutenant is merit-based, requiring continued performance, consistency, and contribution to the unit.

Lieutenant

The Lieutenant rank represents established officers within the Chernarus Defense Force who have demonstrated consistent performance and continued commitment to the unit and their assigned brigades.

Personnel at this level are expected to maintain a high standard of proficiency, reliability, and understanding of unit operations, serving as steady and dependable members of the force.

Lieutenants are recognized for their ability to operate effectively within the unit while contributing to overall mission success through consistency and professionalism.

Progression to Senior Lieutenant is based on time in service (minimum 3 months), along with continued demonstration of reliability, performance, and commitment to the CDF.

Senior Lieutenant

The Senior Lieutenant rank represents experienced officers within the Chernarus Defense Force who have demonstrated sustained commitment and reliability within their assigned brigades.

Personnel at this level must have a minimum of 3 months time in service and have taken on increased leadership roles within their brigades. Senior Lieutenants are expected to set the standard through consistency, professionalism, and continued contribution to unit operations.

This rank reflects individuals who are trusted within the unit and capable of supporting both operational effectiveness and the development of others.

Progression to Captain is based on merit, recommendation from unit leadership, and attainment of instructor qualifications.

Captain

The Captain rank represents senior officers within the Chernarus Defense Force who have demonstrated exceptional performance, leadership, and long-term commitment to the unit.

Captains are recognized as trusted leaders within their brigades, setting the standard in professionalism, consistency, and operational effectiveness. They play a key role in guiding personnel, supporting unit cohesion, and contributing to the continued development of the force.

This rank reflects individuals who have earned the confidence of unit leadership through sustained contribution and the ability to positively influence both operations and personnel.

Ranks above Captain are considered Staff Ranks. Progression beyond this level carries increased responsibility within the Defense Force and is reserved for those serving in instructional and leadership positions, including individuals qualified as mission commanders.

Progression beyond Captain is based on merit, leadership impact, and continued contribution to the CDF.

Major

The Major rank represents the entry into Staff Ranks within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level are responsible for contributing to the planning, coordination, and execution of operations at a broader level across the unit.

Majors are expected to serve in leadership and instructional roles, supporting the development of personnel, refining unit standards, and ensuring consistency in training and operations. They are typically involved in mission planning and execution oversight, often serving as mission commanders or in key supporting roles.

This rank reflects individuals who have demonstrated sustained leadership, reliability, and the ability to contribute beyond their immediate brigade.

The Lieutenant Colonel rank represents senior staff leadership within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level are responsible for overseeing operational direction, training standards, and unit-wide coordination across multiple brigades.

Lieutenant Colonels serve as key decision-makers within the unit, ensuring alignment between operations, training, and overall objectives. They are expected to maintain a high level of involvement in mission planning, execution oversight, and instructor development, often acting as senior mission commanders or advisors.

This rank reflects individuals with proven experience in leadership, instruction, and sustained contribution to the effectiveness and growth of the CDF.

Colonel

The Colonel rank represents the highest level of leadership within the Chernarus Defense Force. Personnel at this level are responsible for overall direction, command oversight, and long-term development of the unit.

Colonels oversee operations, training pipelines, and organizational structure, ensuring the CDF maintains effectiveness, consistency, and growth across all brigades. They serve as senior authorities on doctrine, standards, and mission execution, with direct influence over how the force is employed.

This rank is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, sustained contribution, and a lasting impact on the unit at every level.
